Cross River Mall Guide

Malls in East Delhi: a practical list with locations and nearest metro

East Delhi does not have the giant destination malls of Saket, Vasant Kunj or Noida's Sector 18, but it has a handful of neighbourhood malls that people across Shahdara, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar and Mayur Vihar use every week for films, food courts and everyday shopping. This list sticks to places we could locate and describe from reliable sources, with the nearest metro for each.

Shop line-ups change often in Indian malls. We describe each mall's location and character rather than listing brands that may have moved. For current stores, check the mall's own channels or a recent map listing.

Cross River Mall, CBD Shahdara

Where: Maharaja Surajmal Marg, CBD Shahdara, between Karkardooma and Vishwas Nagar.
Nearest metro: Karkarduma Court (Pink Line), about 750 metres; Karkarduma (Blue and Pink), about 1 km.

Cross River Mall is the best-known mall on the eastern bank of the Yamuna and the one most searched for from across Shahdara. Its multiplex is run by Cinépolis, which took over the former Fun Cinemas site in January 2015; Cinema Treasures lists it with four screens and about 1,191 seats. The mall also has a food court, restaurants and family entertainment, and it is a common meeting point for students and office workers from the CBD area.

Our guides cover the nearest metro station and parking, cabs and buses in detail.

Unity One Mall, CBD Shahdara

Where: also in the CBD Shahdara business district, close to Cross River Mall.
Nearest metro: the same group of stations as Cross River Mall: Karkarduma Court and Karkarduma.

Because the two malls are so close, many visitors combine them in one outing. If a friend says "the mall at CBD Shahdara", ask which one they mean.

V3S East Centre Mall, Laxmi Nagar

Where: Laxmi Nagar area, near Nirman Vihar.
Nearest metro: Nirman Vihar (Blue Line), a short walk.

Delhi Tourism describes V3S as a five-acre, four-floor mall. It is one of the longest-running malls in East Delhi, with a multiplex, eateries and fashion stores, and it is easy to reach because it sits right on the Blue Line corridor.

Star City Mall, Mayur Vihar Phase I

Where: Mayur Vihar Phase I, south of the Blue Line.
Nearest metro: Mayur Vihar-I (Blue and Pink Line).

Wikipedia's Mayur Vihar article lists Star City as the nearest mall to the locality. It serves the Mayur Vihar, Trilokpuri and Patparganj side of East Delhi and has a cinema and food outlets.

Vikas Mall, Shahdara (GT Road)

Where: GT Road, Naveen Shahdara.
Nearest metro: Shahdara (Red Line), roughly 250 metres in a straight line on OpenStreetMap.

A smaller, older mall known locally for its cinema. It is the most convenient option for people on the Red Line or in the Shahdara market area.

Just across the border

Many East Delhi residents also shop in Ghaziabad's Kaushambi and Indirapuram, a few minutes from Anand Vihar, and in Noida. Those malls are outside Delhi, so we have not covered them here.

How to choose

For a film

Check show times on the cinema operator's own app or site before you leave. Prices vary by day, format and seat category, so the operator's booking page is the only reliable source.

For a family outing

Weekends and public holidays get crowded, especially in the evening. Late mornings on weekdays are the calmest time. Parking fills up first on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

For a quick meal near work or court

People working in the CBD Shahdara offices or attending the Karkardooma Courts complex often use Cross River Mall and Unity One for lunch, since both are within walking distance of Karkarduma Court station. See our guide on the court complex and its metro station.

Safety and practical tips

Getting between the malls

The Blue Line links V3S (Nirman Vihar), Karkarduma and Mayur Vihar-I, and the Pink Line links Mayur Vihar-I, Anand Vihar, Karkarduma and Karkarduma Court. So it is quite possible to visit two malls in one outing by metro, for example V3S and Cross River Mall, with a change at Karkarduma or a short walk.
